Being a geographer specialized in glacial forms and natural hazards, a traveller, and an outdoor-prone person (a freak?) a great achievement of pursuing this career was that of having the chance to explore the far North and far South.
I was in Antarctica to report on Italian research for the Italian editions of National Geographic and Scientific American.
I also was to the North Pole on a Russian nuclear powered vessel, a travel reporting to the Touring Club magazine.
I was to the Italian research base in the Svalbard islands, with photographer Paolo Petrignani. Reporting to GEO magazine.
I was on the Italian research ice breaker vessel Laura Bassi, in the Greenland Sea, reporting to Repubblica and Polar Journal.
Since 2021 I am involved in the CoEvolve research project, which aims to study extreme life in extreme environments. This brought me to the Svalbard archipelago again.
I was many times in Iceland, for different projects and science or travel reporting.
I also was in Alaska, reporting on the disaster of the Exxon-Valdez, with photographer Paolo Petrignani and videomaker Alessandro Beltrame. With reporting on the Wochenzeitung (Switzerland) on the Italian edition of Vanity Fair.
I was in Scandinavia, reporting on Sami ideas to adapt to climate change, and travel report to the northernmost tip of continental Europe for various magazines including Montagne360. Of course, I was several times in Iceland for travel (see for example this blog post) and environmental reporting, in Sweden, and in Norway (see for example this blog post).
In Sweden, I cared of a travel report on the Abisko national park, for the Touring Club magazine.
I also enjoy telling stories of exploration, as I did about the first explorers in the North Pole, for GEO magazine.
